Assaf Levitin (Israel), bass-baritone/cantor
Assaf Levitin is a sought-after interpreter of contemporary music. Right after graduating from the international opera studio at the Opernhaus Zürich, he became a member of the ensemble of Theater Dortmund. There he performed, among others, the roles of Figaro (Mozart), Masetto, Don Alfonso, Colline, Baculus and Gremin. Since 2011 he is a member of the Abraham Geiger College Cantorial Program at Potsdam University.
As a part his education, he performed various concerts and liturgies as a singer and cantor in Berlin, Paris, Warsaw, Basel and other congregations. Since 2014 he performs within the cultural program of the Central Council of Jews in Germany together with the ensemble Die Drei Kantoren (The Three Cantors), of which he is a founder and whose CD has been published recently. Assaf Levitin’s CD productions also feature, among others, the Mainzer Nussach, solo parts in masses by Franz Schubert and works of jewish and Israeli composers such as Arnold Schönberg and Noa Blass. He has collaborated with the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen, the SWR Stuttgart, the WDR Köln, the Berlin and the Brandenburg Symphony Orchestra, the Israeli Chamber Orchestra and the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra and others.
